Second Annual "LOVE to Tri" Sprint Triathlon

We regret to say that the Love to Tri has been cancelled due to the lack of registrations.   Thanks to those that did register.  Refunds will be given to all that registered.

CORTA will be hosting the second annual "LOVE to TRI" Sprint Triathlon at Cooper Creek Park.  This is an effort to make athletes in the area aware of all the great opportunities we have at CORTA to play the game of tennis!  Come on out for a 5K run through the beautiful Cooper Creek Park, a 12 mile bike ride on the awesome "Rails for Trails" (located right outside the park) and finish with a 25 ball rally (not consistent) on the tennis courts!!!  Non-tennis players, DO NOT FEAR!  The tennis will be easy!  We will also provide a mini tennis lesson on the day of the TRI to make you more comfortable with the tennis portion! You can use large foam balls, low compression balls or regular balls!  We want you to have the feel of playing on the courts and get you interested in the sport!

Description:  2017 "Love to Tri Columbus" Triathlon

Come out to the beautiful Cooper Creek Park for a easy and fun run, bike and tennis!  The 5K run begins at 3:00 pm with an easy and flat run on the trails through Cooper Creek Park.  This trail circles through the park and around the lake and across the dam.  From the transition area in the Park, head out of the Park entrance and jump on the "Rails for Trails" bike trial for a 12 mile out and back ride. Once back in the Park to the transition area, jump off the bikes, head to a tennis court and complete a rally of 25 consistent balls over the net with a tennis pro.  Once you have completed this skill, you may cross the finish line!

Run Course:  The run is a 5K circle run on mostly trails.
Bike Course:  The bike will be out and back using the "Rails for Trails" bike path.  This is primarily a flat surface.
Tennis Ralley:  Enter the tennis courts at Cooper Creek Tennis Center to begin a 25 rally with a tennis pro! This does not have to be 25 balls in a row....just 25 balls over the net and in the court.   Once you have hit 25 balls you advance through the finish line.
Age Groups:  15 & Under; 15 - 1 9, 20 - 29, 30 - 39, 40 - 49, 50 - 59, 60 - 69 and 70+.
Shirts:  Tech shirts (Specify unisex or women's sizes) guaranteed to all participants registered by March 19th.  After this date, shirts will be available while supplies last.
Awards:  Custom awards will go to the top 3 overall M/F winners in all age groups.
Post Race:  After the race we will have food and drink for all in the Hospitality Room and the outside deck on the CORTA building!  We also encourage anyone that would like to play tennis or participate in the fun "Cardio Tennis" to jump on court and give it a TRI!!!
