CORTA School Junior Team Tennis

This is an after school tennis league for beginners, intermediate, and advanced elementary and middle school students ages 8-14 or grades 2nd - 8th.   This is a non-age eligible league which does not advance to the state championships.  Players must be in the correct age and ability level through November 13th.   Matches are on Mondays/Wednesdays and possibly Fridays from 4:30 - 6:00 beginning on September 17 and tentatively ending on November 7. (Elementary may begin earlier!) There will be a NEW FORMAT!!  There will be boys teams and girls teams.  Teams need to have at least 4 boys or 4 girls to form a team.  It is recommended that each team have 5 or 6 players.  Matches will consist of 2 singles matches and 1 doubles matches.  There will be no playing twice.

Any school that forms a team that has 6 or more NEW USTA members and players will receive a $100 incentive check from USTA Georgia.  Checks will be issued to the school to be used to purchase tennis supplies or equipment!

There may be six levels of play:
 

  • 10U Beginner/Intermediate- You must be 10 years or younger.  Matches will be played on modified sized courts (60') using Orange/Yellow low compression balls.  10U Beginner teams are non-gendered and need at least 4 players. Matches will be at LakeBottom, Brookstone and Cooper Creek.
  • 12U Beginner - This is for 1.5 - 2.4 NTRP level player.  Matches will be played on standard courts using green dot balls.   All teams must have at least 4 boys or 4 girls.   Matches will be at various locations.
  • 12U Intermediate - This is for 2.5-3.4 NTRP level player.  Matches will be played on standard courts using green dot balls.  All teams must have at least 4 boys or 4 girls.   Matches will be at various locations.
  • 12U Advanced - This is for 3.5 and above NTRP level player.  Matches will be played on standard courts using standard balls.  All team must have at least 4 boys or 4 girls.   Matches will be at various locations.
  • 14U Beginner - This is for 1.5 - 2.4NTRP level player.  Matches will be played on standard courts using standard balls.  All teams must have at least 4 boys or 4 girls. Matches will be at various locations.
  • 14U Intermediate - This is for 2.5-3.4 NTRP level player.  Matches will be played on standard courts using standard balls.  All teams must have 4 boys or 4 girls.   Matches will be at various locations.
  • 14U Advanced - This is for 3.5 and above NTRP level player.  Matches will be played on standard courts using standard balls.  All team must have 4 boys or 4 girls.  Matches will be at various locations.

You must have a USTA Junior membership to play USTA Jr. Team Tennis.  This membership is $20 a year.  You will receive a "Smash" magazine and be eligible to play in other USTA Team Tennis leagues or tournaments for one year.

To play for your school you must have a team number (given to you by your team captain) and a USTA membership number.  The cost is $30 to play in the USTA Jr. Team Tennis School league.  This includes your TennisLink fee, court fees, balls, awards and an end of the season party.  ($27 league fee, $3 TennisLink fee). If you are looking for a team, CORTA will help you find a team!

Important Dates:
September 5 - Deadline to form teams 
September 12 - Captain's Meeting
September 17 - Matches Begin
November 7- End of Season
November 8-  Tentative-Awards/Pizza Party 

There will be a mandatory captain's meeting at the new CORTA Hospitality Room at the Cooper Creek Tennis Center on Thursday, September 12  at 5:00.
