THE BURGER KING 2012 HAS COME AND GONE

CORTA recently hosted the Burger King Regional Tournament for 128 16-year-old Boys and Girls.  This tournament continues to draw Nationally Ranked players, coaches and families from all over the United States to our area.  We had 3 local players in the tournament this year:  Gray Wells from Buena Vista, GA, Luke Harden from Columbus, GA and Attaman Billor from Auburn, AL.

With the continued support from our local Burger King franchisee, Schuster Enterprises, and the Columbus Sports Council we were able to host a fabulous event for the players showcasing our Southern Hospitality.   Our HOST Hotel for this event was the Holiday Inn - North on Manchester Expressway.  They hosted a player reception and check-in on Friday evening. Ci-Ci's Pizza, the official Pizza Sponsor of CORTA, provided pizzas to players and their families on Saturday evening. The Ice Cream Girl came out to provide cold treats for the players and we also hosted a Player Lunch on Sunday afternoon.  Courtyard by Marriott, Hyatt Place and Hampton Inn -North participated as "Preferred Hotels" for this event.

As with any event of this magnitude, we couldn't pull it off without great voluneers. We appreciate the following people who stepped up to help make this tournament possible:  Mary Grier Illges, John Illges, Anne Lyle Illges, Katherine Cartwright, Patty Lin, Melissa Foy, Russ Hagberg, Adam Centerbar, Michelle Fuller, Margaret Boyter, Steven Wu, Annette Vickery, Alpna Arora, Max Patrick, Doug Gibson and John Ferguson.  Bob Offer did a wonderful job as Head Referee as did his Officials. Lisa Wilcoxson did a super job treating player's injuries and the always enthusiastic CORTA Court Sweepers kept the courts swept and lined for the players.

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this an awesome event for the players.
