Senior Banana Open 50+/60+

CORTA will be hosting the Senior Banana Open for players 50+.  It will prove to be all the fun of the Banana Open, but on a more level (age) playing field. NTRP divisions will be offered for both 50+ and 60+ divisions.  This tournament will offer first match consolation (FMLC) for all participants, guaranteeing you at least two matches.  No more worrying about drawing a young college student in the first round.

Divisions:  50+ Doubles, Singles, Mixed Doubles; 60+ Doubles, Singles, Mixed Doubles; FMLC (first match consolation) - Guarantees you 2 matches
Entry Fee:  $43.50 one event; $46.00 two events per player

This is a designated GA Level II tournament, which awards higher USTA Georgia standing/ranking points in the Senior NTRP divisions. Only Georgia State Chps (Level I) award higher ranking points. For more information, review the USTA Georgia Adult Regulations at

Players competing in two events are restricted to the following options:
     1 Singles & 1 Doubles
     1 Singles & 1 Mixed Doubles
     1 Doubles & 1 Mixed Doubles
     PLEASE NOTE:  Entry into two divisions may require you to play back to back matches.
     You may NOT play in two of the same divisions.  Ex. Men's 3.0 singles and Men's 3.5 singles.

Match Schedule:  Detail match schedules will be posted on Tuesday, April 9, 2013.  Matches begin at 6:00 pm on Thursday and Friday.  Weekend matches begin at 9:00 am.  

Scoring:  All matches will play two out of three tie-break sets with a 10 point match tiebreak being played in lieu of a third set.

Rankings and Ratings:  Just when you thought it couldn't get better... the 2012 Senior Banana Open is sanctioned! What does that mean? From your incredible play, you will receive state ranking points, and earn a year-end Georgia state ranking. For those of you concerned about how this might effect your NTRP rating... matches will NOT be included in your NTRP computer ratings.  So, play hard and not only will you be crowned the "Big Banana", but you will be crowned the best in Georgia!

Tournament Check-in Procedure:  Please check-in at least 30 minutes before your first match and 15 minutes prior to every other match throughout the tournament.  The check-in desk is located at the Annex on the left side of the street at Cooper Creek Tennis Center.

T-shirts will be provided for all participants.  Winner and finalist awards will be given for all divisions.

Playing site:  Cooper Creek Tennis Center is a public facility with a two story clubhouse overlooking 30 rubico courts.   In 1996 and again in 2001, Cooper Creek Tennis Center received the "Outstanding Tennis Facilty" award from the USTA.  In the spring of 1993, a clubhouse and 8 courts were added to the original 12 courts (built in 1972).  In March of 1997, the original 12 courts were completely renovated.  In December of 1999, construction began on an additional 10 courts including a stadium court and were completed in April 2000 with the addition of these new courts, Cooper Creek is arguably the finest facility in the United States.  

Directions to Cooper Creek Tennis Center:  
4816 Milgen Road, Columbus, GA (706) 317-4186 Take I-185 to Exit 7 (Manchester Expressway). Turn east onto Manchester Expressway. Travel approximately 2 miles to the Warm Springs Road Connector. Travel up the exit ramp and turn right. The entrance to Cooper Creek Park is directly ahead. The clubhouse is a two-story building located on your right as you enter the park.
